Terms of Service

Effective May 4, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of PatMate (the “Service”), operated by Nikola Ristić, a private individual residing in Belgrade, Serbia (“PatMate”, “we”, “us”). The Service is currently in closed beta and is offered free of charge; the operator is not a registered business and there is no commercial-register or VAT identification number. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use PatMate.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your country) to create an account. By signing up you confirm you are the lawful keeper of any pets you list and that you have the right to make them available for breeding.

2. What PatMate is — and what it isn’t

PatMate is an information and matchmaking platform connecting pet owners. We do not breed, sell, transport, or veterinary-clear any animal listed on the Service. Any arrangement between owners is strictly between those owners. PatMate is not a party to your transaction and is not liable for its outcome.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your credentials secret.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• One natural person, one account. Sharing accounts is not permitted.
• We may require email verification, two-factor authentication, or breeder verification before unlocking certain features.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• List animals you do not legally own or have authority to represent.
• List animals that are sick, underage, or otherwise unfit for breeding.
• Engage in puppy/kitten mill behaviour, trafficking, or any activity prohibited by your local animal-welfare law.
• Harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate other users.
• Upload illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, or copyright-infringing content.
• Scrape, bulk-export, or attempt to circumvent our rate limits or security.
• Use the Service for spam, phishing, or paid promotion without our consent.

Violations may lead to warnings, content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban — at our sole discretion. Serious violations are reported to the relevant authorities.

5. Welfare commitments

See our Welfare Policy. By listing a pet you confirm that you meet its standards.

6. Content you upload

You retain ownership of photos, videos, descriptions, and other material you post (“User Content”). You grant PatMate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, adapt, and display your User Content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. This license ends when you delete the content, except where retention is required by law.

7. Reviews and reputation

Reviews must reflect a genuine first-hand interaction. We may remove reviews that are false, defamatory, or made in exchange for compensation. Repeat violations may cost you the ability to leave reviews.

8. Fees

PatMate is currently provided free of charge. There is no payment processor integrated and no paid plan available. If we introduce paid features in the future we will publish updated Terms (including the payment provider and refund rules) at least 14 days before they take effect, and EU consumers will retain their statutory withdrawal rights.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or for legal/safety reasons. After deletion, we retain limited data only as required by law (see the Privacy Policy).

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. PatMate does not warrant that listings are accurate, that contacted owners are reputable, or that any breeding will succeed.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PatMate’s aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) EUR 50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, lost litters, veterinary costs, or distress. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. for gross negligence, fraud, or death/personal injury caused by negligence).

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PatMate from any claim arising out of your User Content, your interactions with other users, or your breach of these Terms.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and/or an in-app banner at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Belgrade, Serbia, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence grant you a different forum (e.g. EU consumers retain the right to bring proceedings in their home country under Article 18 of Regulation 1215/2012).
